The Process
Apply Online
As well as completing the online application form, the following documents and information are also required:
- Copies of all employee performance evaluations within the past 5 years.
- Copies of all letters of commendation/appreciation
- List all courses/seminars completed
- Police College Evaluations/Transcripts
- Updated Immunization Record
- Copy of certification in Standard First Aid and level “C” CPR
- Copy of Driver’s License, Social Insurance Card, Birth Certificate, Indian and Northern Affairs Indian Status Card
- Letter of References
Prescreening
Our human resources team thoroughly review all applications to ensure they meet the requirements outlined in the job posting and job description.
Testing
The specific assessment requirements vary depending on the position you’ve applied for. These assessments are designed to evaluate your skills and knowledge in relation to the job’s requirements. To advance further in the process, you must meet the established standards for the respective position.
Interview
You’ll participate in an interview conducted by AMPS. During this interview, we will ask questions to gauge your knowledge, skills, and abilities as they pertain to the position you’ve applied for. Additionally, scenario-based questions may be presented. Your interview panel will typically consist of a human resources advisor and one or more members of our management team. Some positions may require multiple interviews, and you will be informed if a second interview is necessary. Meeting the interview standards is a prerequisite for advancing in the competition.
Background Checks and Security Clearance
A comprehensive background investigation is a mandatory step for anyone aspiring to join our team. This process ensures that your values align with the mission, vision, and values of AMPS.
Conditional Offer of Employment
If you successfully progress through all prior stages of the selection process, and your qualifications align with the position we’re recruiting for, you will receive a conditional job offer. This offer will outline the details of your employment, including the start date, salary, and benefits. You’ll also be asked to complete new employee information forms as you accept the conditional offer, officially welcoming you to our team.
Civilian Opportunities
The Public Safety Dispatcher dispatches police, ambulance, and fire units daily. Their duties include operating communication equipment, handling complaints and service requests, and recording incidents. Shift work and occasional holidays are part of the role.
